Vibration Monitoring for Electric Motors
Vibration Monitoring for Electric Motors
Motors are ideal candidates for scalable condition monitoring because the same machine type appears throughout industrial plants and often drives production-critical equipment.
Bearings
Follow vibration trends associated with bearing condition.
Coupling & alignment
Monitor evidence related to alignment, coupling and soft-foot problems.
Rotor & mounting
Imbalance, looseness and structural response can affect motor vibration.
Practical measurement approach
Measure both the motor and driven asset when possible. Compare like-for-like operating conditions and consider speed, load, VFD operation and installation stiffness.
Use VibSys with the IEPE sensor that fits the job
Istec VibSys A01 is a four-channel platform for scalable vibration condition monitoring. Multiple units can be placed near selected machines as monitoring coverage expands.
Compatible standard 2-wire IEPE accelerometers can be used; VibSys is not locked to Istec sensors. This makes it possible to select sensors around measurement range, frequency response, temperature, environment and plant standards.
VibSys is intended for condition monitoring and diagnostics. Dedicated safety, trip and machinery-protection functions should remain on systems designed for those duties.
