Vibration Monitoring for Pumps
Vibration Monitoring for Pumps
Pump reliability depends on both mechanical condition and process operation. Continuous vibration trends help maintenance teams see developing bearing, balance and alignment changes before they become larger maintenance events.
Bearing health
Trend bearing vibration and identify changes that justify closer inspection.
Alignment & balance
Follow changes associated with coupling alignment, rotating imbalance, looseness and mounting.
Process context
Cavitation and hydraulic operating conditions can affect vibration, so mechanical data should be interpreted with the process.
Practical measurement approach
Measure from rigid bearing locations on the pump and motor. Compare trends under similar speed and load conditions and include relevant process values when available.
Use VibSys with the IEPE sensor that fits the job
Istec VibSys A01 is a four-channel platform for scalable vibration condition monitoring. Multiple units can be placed near selected machines as monitoring coverage expands.
Compatible standard 2-wire IEPE accelerometers can be used; VibSys is not locked to Istec sensors. This makes it possible to select sensors around measurement range, frequency response, temperature, environment and plant standards.
VibSys is intended for condition monitoring and diagnostics. Dedicated safety, trip and machinery-protection functions should remain on systems designed for those duties.
